11th BIFFES Day 3 highlights – February 24, 2019
The Third day of 11th Biffes 2019 saw a foot fall of 20000 film enthusiasts
Standing in long ques to watch their favourite movies. Apart from that 11th Biffes 2019, witnessed the following workshops and press interactions with visiting Directors of films and documentaries.
The first event was an interaction with the KGF success story with the cast and crew of the popular movie KGF and the interaction Led By Nagathihalli Chandrashekar. The KGF team consisted of films Music Director Ravi Barasur, D.O.P Bhuvan Gowda, Art Director Shivakumar and actor Ram who played the character Garuda were the pillars of the success story of KGF. There are many elements which has contributed to the movie set in Period era by training the crew for two years in a class room /workshop format for about two years which trained the crew exceptionally well thus creating a Mile Stone in the kannada Film Industry.
Business process in Cinema session was conducted by the following speakers

2. Prabhu B Doss, founder Cinehive.
3. Mugil Chandra, Chief Marketing Officer & Founding partner block x piracy.

• Primefocus is a global leader in media and entertainment service industry
• Primefocus won 4 academy awrds for Best VFX
• Clear digital lab is their platform and the discussion revolved around how it helps the film makers in saving and securing data.
Prabhu Doss
• explained how the usage of hard disks harmed the multi crore films.
• explained the solution for the harm caused by hard disks
• Cinehive’s job is to store films in physical servers, which safely stores all the raw storage
• Possibility of data loss in these physical servers is zero
• They also provide reel safe data management and transcoding for digital films

Sangeeta Datta, India
Movie: Bird of Dusk
The film is a biopic of Late Writer-Director Rituparno Ghosh, who pushed borders on sexuality, feminism and freedom of thought. The film is about an artist’s relationship to his city Calcutta.
Talking about Rituparno Ghost, Sangeeta Datta said, “He is a friend, an artist, illustrator, media person who had a huge impact on the Bengali culture.”
Farha Khatun, India
The Jungle Man…. Loiya
The film is about a person from Manipur who turned a barren land to a forest. That place is now home for insects, birds, but now the climate change has started.
“Blaming others won’t help us. We have to take care of it ourselves.” She explained it with a story.
Priya Thuvassery, India
Coral Woman
The film is about a 53 year old housewife living in the Gulf of Mannar, India who tries to bring attention to the threat to coral reefs through her paintings. These corals inspired her to learn swimming and scuba diving.
On talking about the filming of her documentary she said, “The line between Fiction and Non-fiction is blurring now. We need to build an audience for documentaries and that is what BIFFES and other film festivals are doing.”
Sourav Sarangi, India
Movie – Char- No Man’s Island
The film is about Meet Rubel, A fourteen year old boy smuggling rice from India to Bangaladesh. Rubel and many homeless people settled in a fragile island leaving their homes, shops and lands behind, as the flood takes away their homes.
On talking about visiting them he said, “The people have lands as a form of wealth. If they have some money earned, they will buy a land. And to see those lands descruted was disturbing for me”
