“It’s the season of Crime, Investigation and Mystery in Sandalwood!“

Every year, Kannada Film Industry churns out numerous movies weekend after weekend, to keep us entertained. Some have a social message while some are out-and-out ‘masala’ flicks. But the early 2019 seems to be a crime, mystery , investigation and thriller season for Sandalwood.

Here are 5 films that have created big buzz in the ‘Gandhinagar’ , thanks to their teasers, trailers which have already lured the audience to keep themselves read for these edge of the seat thrillers!

1. Birbal Trilogy

Birbal is touted to be the first murder mystery trilogy in the Kannada Film Industry. A boy wrongly accused of murder is aided by a criminal lawyer, Mahesh. The consequences that follow form the rest of the movie that plays out in the dark and dingy lanes of Bangalore.
The trailer for the first part, ‘Finding Vajramuni’, was recently launched by Real Star Upendra who himself was amused by the visuals and heaped words of praise for the gripping storyline it was presented around with.
Written and directed by MG Srinivas , who also plays the lead and produced by TR Chandrashekar, Birbal will release in January, 2019.

2. Kavacha

Kavacha is an upcoming Kannada language crime thriller cinema starring Shivaraj Kumar and Kruthika Jayakumar. The intriguing trailer which was recently released was praised by the viewers for it’s intense plot and a lead superstar like Shivaraj Kumar potraying a blind man’s role was an icing on the cake.
Directed by G.V.R Vasu and produced by M. V. V. Satyanarayana, Kavacha’s release date is yet to be announced.

3. Bhinna

Bhinna is an upcoming pshycological thriller movie written and directed by Shuddhi fame Adarsh H Eshwarappa and produced by Yateesh Venkatesh. This cinema is said to be a toast to the legendary director of Kannada Cinemas, Puttanna Kangal and has shades of Kalpana’s character Kaveri, from the famous yesteryear movie, Sharapanjara.

Apart from the interesting weekly episodes of the film updates by the director on his social media page, this movie will not have songs. Paayal Radhakrishna will play the lead and Bhinna is set to release in January, 2019.

4. Kavaludaari

Kavaludaari is an upcoming Kannada investigative crime noir cinema written and directed by Hemanth M Rao. This cinema stars Rishi, Ananth Nag and Roshni Prakash in the lead roles and made news as it was the first cinema to be presented, produced by the Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar and his wife under PRK productions respectively.
The team recently launched the movie’s teaser and was an instant proof for a thriller recipe and will release in the first half of 2019.

5. Bell Bottom

Bell Bottom is an investigative cinema directed by Jayatheertha and produced by Santosh Kumar. The character teaser that was recently launched by Rakshith Shetty gave an insight about the project which promises to be an interesting investigative film and lead character which seems to be playing a detective.

Rishabh Shetty and Haripriya star in the lead roles and the team is hopeful of early 2019 release.

With all these exciting movies lined up, the first half of 2019 is all set to leave the audience at the edge of the seats!
