Because when we erase our memory of a humiliating event by silence, we are not only destroying the moral values that exist in our society, but are also killing the innocence and destroying all the possibilities for it to blossom.
Watch Sahana –The Story of Innocent Silence, which narrates the tale of sexual assault, gang rape and murder of a young girl. Sahana also addresses several issues like betrayal of trust, objectification of women and life in a rural area. Sahana is an aching narrative that could have been just true in reality. The film leaves the audience with several intriguing questions related woman safety, need for security in rural areas and most importantly – it questions the human conscience of forgetting a serious issue like the rape and murder of an innocent girl as humiliating silence.
Sahana is a haunting tale that warns society and the direction in which it is heading. Sahana represents the stories of several rape victims whose voices are often ignored, neglected, forgotten and discarded like an unrelated matter of fact into the flowing river, where it is submerged – unspoken and unheard.
