Presenting ONDANONDU KALADALLI OBBA RAJA IDDA – Official Trailer The story ‘Once There Was a King’ by Rabindranath Tagore have the theme of innocence, story-telling, character involvement and respect towards the story teller. The story is narrated to the first person by an unnamed narrator who looks back at an incident when he was seven years old. The narrator wishes that his tutor would not come to teach him in the evening. In an effort to escape from the clutches of his tutor, he feigns a sickness, telling his mother that he has a headache. As his grandmother begins to tell him the story the narrator does not look for flaws in the story rather he longs to be entertained. He just wants to hear a story that will allow his young mind run wild. It just needs to be believable to a young seven year old boy. He can identify with the characters in the story and sees himself into it. The listeners have to suspend their disbelief for a period of time. A seven year old boy marries a princess who has reached the full bloom of her youth. To the little boy, this scenario opens the possibilities in his mind, that maybe someday he too could marry a princess. When the narrator asks ‘what next,’ the grandmother explores the story even further and more imaginatively. Though the young boy who is married to the princess has died, the grandmother gives him eternal life. However Tagore made the story teller and the listener to get involved in a story. The listener has to be open to the unexpected incident. The end of the story does not give the boy as he was identified himself with the character. He finds his own desire and vision to make the character to live as he is living

This film is a theatrical narration with celluloid techniques, extracted from ‘Ekavyakthi Pradarshanagalu’ by Yogesh Master, designed & directed by Santhosh Kodenkeri.
