The official YouTube channel Doosra The Film has just launched the highly anticipated Doosra official trailer, giving audiences a riveting glimpse into India’s ultimate cricket-fueled coming-of-age story. Scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 23, 2026, the 132-second preview bridges the gap between historical sporting glory and deeply personal, intimate rebellion. Directed by Abhinay Deo, the project blends real-life archival sports documentary footage with scripted narrative storytelling, creating a unique cinematic experience that highlights the euphoric 2002 NatWest Series final at Lord’s.
At the center of the narrative is Tara, a young adolescent girl growing up inside a rigid, patriarchal family framework in Rajasthan. As Sourav Ganguly waves his shirt from the Lord’s balcony following a historic comeback victory against England, Tara witnesses an unfiltered moment of national defiance on television. This single, watershed sporting event inspires her to find her own voice, shed long-standing societal constraints, and speak truth to power within her own home and community. The trailer brilliantly captures this convergence of collective national euphoria and individual liberation, setting high expectations for cinema lovers following other hard-hitting cinematic journeys featured in titles like Tu Hai Meri Kiran Official Trailer Out: Sonakshi Sinha.
Cast, Crew, and Creative Vision Behind Doosra
The film boasts a compelling cast and an esteemed technical crew dedicated to bringing this socio-cultural sports drama to life. Plabita Borthakur steps into the lead role as Tara, delivering an emotionally resonant performance that anchors the fictional narrative. She is joined by veteran actor Ankur Vikal, who portrays her strict father, alongside a talented supporting ensemble featuring Samidha Guru, Twisha Joshi (Tvisha Seema), and Krishna Gokani. The creative screenplay and story are written by Agnello Oswin Dias, while the striking background score and music are composed by Ram Sampath.
Production is spearheaded by Masha Sajdeh, Steven Cantor, and Jamie Schutz under banners such as RDP Production, with Rohan Sajdeh serving as executive producer and Neeta Shah and Jonathan Theodore Baker as co-producers. PVR INOX Pictures handles the theatrical distribution. The film has already generated significant trade buzz, not just for its unique premise, but also due to director Abhinay Deo’s decision to preserve an uncut, mature examining committee moment regarding a brief scene involving Tara’s father rather than submitting to mandatory visual edits for a U/A certificate, ultimately opting for an “A” rating instead.
