Netflix India has officially unleashed a high-octane 74-second sneak peek into its upcoming retro underworld saga with the release of the Akka official teaser. Dropping with the explosive promotional tagline “Ab chalega beheno ka shaasan ♥♀&ufe0f;♥&🔥,” the video immediately sets a raw, gritty tone for what promises to be a fierce battle for supremacy. The streaming giant shared the high-anticipation footage on their official YouTube channel, offering audiences a front-row seat to a violent, female-led 1980s crime-drama universe that is already turning heads across digital entertainment circles.
Cast, Crew, and Plot of Netflix’s Akka
Conceived by Mangaluru-born filmmaker Dharmaraj Shetty, Akka draws deep thematic inspiration from coastal South Indian matrilineal cultures, translating those traditions into a brutal, high-stakes 1980s gangster narrative. Set in the fictional South Indian realm of Pernuru—a territory fiercely governed across generations by a matriarchal sisterhood—the plot explodes when contrasting philosophies collide. The narrative is spearheaded by Keerthy Suresh as Bhavani, an imposing underworld queen, alongside Radhika Apte as Rudra, a rebellious adversary determined to dismantle the reigning power structure. Veteran actress Tanvi Azmi also anchors a pivotal role in the series, supported by an extensive ensemble including Anshumaan Pushkar, Kiran Karmarkar, and Vishak Nair.
Backed prestigiously by YRF Entertainment under the digital banner of Yash Raj Films, the project boasts elite technical wizardry. The dialogues are penned by Hussain Dalal and Abbas Dalal, while John Stewart Eduri provides the pounding musical score. Sanyukta Kaza and Saheb Bagchi handle editing, Laxmi Keluskar serves as production designer, Sheetal Iqbal Sharma designs the period-authentic costumes, and Sunil Rodrigues directs the adrenaline-fueled action sequences.
